BLESSING IN DISGUISE by Barbara R. Rommer, M. D.

Another Side of the Near-Death Experience

Journey Beyond Death

At least 13 million Americans have had a near-death experience (NDE), according to a recent Gallup poll.  Data suggests that 17.7% of these are "less than positive" (    (LTP) -- experiences that are distressing and sometimes frightening.

Very little has been written about the LTP.  People who have them are often hesitant to come forward, afraid of being judged unfairly.  Dr. Rommer, a practicing internist, personally interviewed more than 300 cases for Blessing in Disguise, which contains more directly quoted interviews than any other book on this subject.  She has identified four distinct types of frightening near-death experiences: (1) typical NDEs misinterpreted due to fear; (2) a void of emptiness with feelings of despair; (3) graphic hellish landscapes and entities; and (4) a life review with feelings of judgment.

Some people reported "waking up" in the hospital or even the morgue after having gone to the other side.  Others were resuscitated in Dr. Rommer's presence.  Most of them confirm her hypothesis: that even the most horrifying NDEs eventually have a positive spiritual outcome.

A person does not have to have had a near-death experience to learn many valuable lessons about life, love, and spirit.  This book will touch your heart and provide you with inspiration and comfort in the knowledge that there is no true "death" -- the soul does indeed live on.

Barbara R. Rommer, M. D., has practiced internal medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL, for 25 years.  She founded and facilitates the South Florida chapter of the International Association for Near-Death Studies.
