Symphytum Officianale

 

Use in poultices, compresses or ointments and apply externally to bruises, inflamed muscles, tendons and varicose veins.  Made up of a multitude of healing substances including calcium, tannins, mucilage and vitamins A, C, and B12, a tea has been known to soothe irritable bowel syndrome and bronchitis. 

CAUTION: Also contains a high level of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are toxic to the liver.  Consult a health care practitioner before using internally.
