Rarely used medicinally. Formerly used to treat bronchitis and chronic diarrhea, and was considered a useful remedy in dropsy. Has a long reputation as a religious herb, more specifically a funeral herb, used to bring peace to the departed and hope for a happy reincarnation. Iris was the Goddess of the rainbow, representing hope and the symbol of the eternal spirit. Also considered an herb of protection and may be used to bring love, romance, companionship and the ability to have a close loving mate. Associated with male sexuality, worn to increase potency.
CAUTION: Large amounts taken internally may cause vomiting.
