Magick & The Moon

The lunar phase is important in determining the best time for magick. There are basically two lunar phases: waxing moon and waning moon. In between you have the dark moon.

The waxing moon is ideal for positive magick, the waning moon is the best time for banishing or negative magick, study and meditation.  While the dark moon is the time of greatest power for banishing and negative magick, the full moon is the time of greatest power for positive magick.

Most wiccans and pagans work around these lunar phases.

This month the New Moon is on June 6 at 5:55pm and the Full Moon makes her appearance on June 22 at 12:14am.  June's Full Moon is called the Partner Moon but it is also known as the Mead Moon.

The Mead Moon is the time of the observance of the making of the mead, the sweet wines, or even honey and herb tea. Fill your cup, sip the sweet drink and wait quietly to become the vessel ready to receive inspiration of the God and Goddess. Become a mead cup ready to be filled, not with the brew of everyday life but with the clear, bright liquid of illumination.  Every time this ritual is performed, even if there are no immediate results, you are becoming a more perfect vessel for divine inspiration. If the night of the Mead Moon is very close to the Summer Solstice, the results of this exercise can be very powerful.
